Radio Button Vs Dropdown Menus- Basic Difference

In todays time, when e-commerce rules the roost, having a good website makes all the difference to a business. A good website not only promotes online business but also has a major role to play in generating maximum traffic. If one were to describe broadly the attribute of a good website in one line, it would be a website that is designed in such a way so as to enhance user experience to the maximum level. Though there are many ways to achieve this, the Radio Button and Dropdown Menus are the simplest & most common tools used for this purpose.

Dropdown Menus

Dropdown Menus are great tool which can ensure that the website offers a clutter-free look. The choices remain hidden until the user specifically clicks on the menu. Dropdown Menus are the best option when there is a healthy amount of information that needs to be displayed on the website. Dropdown Menus do not clutter & are considered best to use when there are 7-15 options which need to be displayed. If too many options are used, it would only confuse the user & lead to a poor browsing experience.

Radio Buttons

Radio Buttons are a good option when there is a small list of selections out of which the user has to make a specific choice. Radio Buttons only enable the users to make a single choice out of the whole list. Radio Buttons allow the users to make a quick scanning & view the available options without having to click anything. Radio Buttons are a good choice from the point of view of the webmaster. Radio Buttons offer more design flexibility & more control is possible over the content of the labels. Both these tools can go a long way in enhancing the user experience & are quite easy to incorporate in the website design. But the most important thing is to ensure that they are used at the proper places so as to make it easy for the users to browse through the website.

A webmaster needs to get a proper understanding of both these tools so as to ensure that they are incorporated into the web design in the most effective manner. Request a Free Quote
